It has been almost a century since our hotel was first established in 1914 and for all these years, the Westin Chosun Seoul has long been synonymous with luxurious accommodation and first-class service in Korea.

The Westin Chosun Seoul is located in the heart of Seoul, where Prince Ko-Jong was known to perform a traditional ceremony (Jesa) to honor his ancestors. Since the beginning, this splendid hotel was used to house guests of state, dignitaries, foreign officials, as well as being the center of political, economic, and social gatherings. At the end of the Japanese occupation in 1945, President Syngman Man Rhee proceeded to change the hotel's name to "Chosun Hotel" from the Japanese name "Chosen Hoteru". Soon after Independence Day, the hotel was at the center of a series of historic events, such as the U.S. occupation during the Korean War, the invasion of Incheon Beach and the establishment of the 3rd Republic. In 1979, the world famous Westin International Hotel group invested in The Chosun Hotel, leading to our current name, The Westin Chosun Seoul. In 1995, Shinsegae took over The Westin Chosun Seoul, making it the first hotel in Korea to be 100 % locally owned. The Westin Chosun Seoul has survived throughout history and continues to provide first class service to our valued guests.

We were the first to introduce western culture to Korea, from the elevator (first known as a vertical train), to ice cream, the buffet, dance parties, and western-style weddings. In more recent years, we have been expanding our reach through the Westin Chosun Busan, and outside F&B and premium office building management areas such as Bankers Club and State Tower Namsan.
